Bridging off an initial interdisciplinary conversation on Children’s Drawings as Evidence one year ago at Luma Westbau in Zurich, this second, related workshop will extend the conversation to take a more historical perspective on the collection and use of children’s drawings as both testimony and evidence since the Spanish Civil War.
Historians, art historians, artists, psychologists, jurists, journalists, and artists will convene for one full day of discussions. Where the first workshop in Zurich centred around a specific moment in 2007 when children’s drawings were accepted as contextual evidence by the ICC in the Darfur case, this workshop will examine several key historical moments where drawings by children contribute to — and complicate — our understanding of conflicts.
With the participation of: Zérane S. Girardeau (curator and director of Déflagrations), Petrit Halilaj (artist), Aya Ben Ron (artist), Sadegh Nashat (psychologist), Christian Roith (Educational Historian), and Nicholas Stargardt (Historian).
The workshops takes place on 30 Jan, 10:00 – 18:00, with a break for lunch.
