At the heart of MUTUALISMX: Becoming Sonic Networks, a planetary-spanning collaborative generative AI music and visual album lies SEMILLA.AI , a synthesiser developed by hexorcismos. Based on "small data" neural audio synthesis, the tool represents a confluence of technopoetics in generative computation, decolonial aesthetics, and new AI interfaces. Drawing inspiration from Mesoamerican Mixe divination practice of "Mook pajk wëjwë", or "maize seed divination", SEMILLA.AI transforms the sonic identities of the performers, merging them into a collective sound.
For this premiere, hexorcismos is joined by collaborators Kloxii Li & Ale Hop, presenting their "sonic becoming." Each artist will contribute data and sounds that are intricately woven into the performance: from the ethereal blend of textural noise and machinic dissonance of Kloxii Li to the experimentalism of Ale Hop.
By blurring individual identities into a shared voice, MUTUALISMX advocates for borderless, creative futures with generative neural networks, while examining labour, AI biases, and new forms of generative research. The performance also features the visual work of the Chilean artist duo Hypereikon, who have crafted visuals inspired by the mythopoetics of precolonial artefacts from Mayan and Aztec civilizations and beyond.
