Dong Xuan Center

Herzbergstraße 128-139, Berlin-Lichtenberg

Dong Xuan Center is a space where technologies converge. Known as Germany’s largest Asian wholesale market, it is a sprawling cluster of industrial halls hosting more than 400 small businesses from Vietnam, China, India, Pakistan, and beyond. Across its corridors, a vast range of goods and services circulate – from food and textiles to electronics, logistics, and legal or financial advice.

Dong Xuan Center transmediale 2026

As part of By the Mango Belt & Tamarind Road, an LED text flows as a river through the market’s circulatory corridors, moving within a space shaped by trade routes, diasporic labour, and transnational logistics.

In the beginning there was a river. The river became a road and the road branched out to the whole world. And because the road was once a river it was always hungry.

Serving as one of the compassing elements for transmediale 2026, this quote by Ben Okri appears on an LED banner above the entrance of vendor unit TYMEX (Hall 1, Unit 137B) at Dong Xuan Center.

The intervention is visible during weekend opening hours (10:30–19:30) until February 1.

Special thanks to Fevzi Talay of TYMEX.
