Social Media Policy

As of 2018, transmediale ceased using “Meta” platforms, including Facebook and Instagram. This is a response to concerns about how access to culture and cultural products is governed by the automated systems of social media platforms, which lack transparency in their algorithmic design and monetize user attention. In 2023, transmediale also stopped using X (formerly Twitter) following its change in ownership and the introduction of membership fees, which contributed to a rise in hate speech and reduced the platform’s discursive diversity.
