WATER CYBERNETICS | de(APPROPRIATION DOCTRINE)

In Water Cybernetics I: (de)Appropriation Doctrine, Antonia Hernández investigates the possibilities of liquid governance through a speculative scenario where water and its physical states (solid, liquid, and gaseous) act as a (hydro)common body with a set of constitutional rights.

By thinking through water, this exercise in environmental justice will address the scale of Chile's current water crisis. During her residency, Hernández will draft a manifesto with a new set of water rights and a fictional treatise on water cybernetics, working with experts to develop a water governance platform through design justice and decolonial methods. The project is a collaboration with Berlin-based artist and researcher Laura Cugusi.
