transmediale out of doors

transmediale presents the Cinema, Performances & Talks programme out of doors at Haus der Kulturen der Welt and silent green.

out of doors 19 - 23 August

A zombie that refuses to lie silent in the dirt, a road between Jerusalem and Jericho that an algorithm cannot navigate, a political dance that builds a resistance. Taking place across the Westgarten of Haus der Kulturen der Welt and the garden at silent green, transmediale out of doors combines film, music, performance, and talks that engage with the aesthetics and politics of refusal. Addressing opposition to state power, apolitical interfaces, and network bias, the five-night programme explores modes of refusal that embody tenderness, care, joyful dissent, late nights and dirt.

Film screenings, performances and talks will take place each evening from the 19 to 22 August at HKW, closing with DJ sets at Weltwirtschaft that are open to all and free of charge.

On the final evening, 23 August, Creamatorium 2, created by Jennifer Mehigan and performed by Dylan Kerr, will take place in the garden of silent green. The performance is a collection of sculptures, images, and text that explores the Irish refusal and the burial plot and cemetery as colonial garden spaces. Occuring at dusk, the performance will weave through subterranean worlds, finding allies in the equine apparitions of North Belfast, the soil, the dead, and the internet.

With works by Arjuna Neuman & Denise Ferreira da Silva, Bárbara Wagner & Benjamin de Burca, Bassam Al Sabah, Cemile Sahin, Cibelle Cavalli Bastos, Diane Edwards, Dylan Kerr, Frank Sweeney, Jennifer Mehigan, Nazanin Noori, Patrick Staff, Salvatore Arrancio, Tali Liberman and others.
