After four packed festival days and a fantastic opening at Akademie der Künste, long nights at Berghain, and radialsystem, the world of a model, a map, a fiction has come to an end. transmediale's first in-person festival since 2020 was sold out in advance and attracted a large number of people on-site as well as remotely via live stream.
The video recordings of the full discourse programme will be available soon on the website and on Youtube. Impressions of the festival are available in the image gallery on the website .
Or So It Seems
Akademie der Künste
until 26 February
The exhibition Or So It Seems, a collaboration between Alan Butler and Simone C Niquille, is on view until 26 February. On display are two video works that compete for attention: duckrabbit.tv, the animated version of Wittgenstein's thought experiment, which tells their queer coming-of-age story, and Unnecessary Journeys, a real-time simulation of a weather report of an extreme storm in Yosemite National Park. The exhibition asks how we hold together when the line between impending doom and entertainment becomes unclear.
Out of Scale
citywide exhibition
until 26 February
The citywide exhibition Out of Scale can be experienced until the end of the month. Whether it’s the Data Dump Wundertüte available from a selection of Spätis across the city, an opera on Tempelhofer Feld, or artworks found online via the ‘zu verschenken’-section on eBay Kleinanzeigen – the project uses the city’s on and offline infrastructures, and at transmediale warehouse in silent green — the exhibition’s logistical centre. Find the map of the city with all the locations online.
transmediale is an annual festival and a critical space for the development of new experimental approaches in art and digital culture. Beyond the yearly event, transmediale is a transversal, dynamic platform that facilitates year-round activities including a residency programme and journal. Each festival edition focuses on a specific theme in the spectrum of art and digital culture that is reflected through a great variety of programmes like exhibitions, discourse formats, performances, screenings, and workshops. transmediale has discussed the role of emotions and cultural emergence in digital culture, the political, economic, and cultural divides of our time, and the elusiveness of perpetually transitioning media cultures.
