Dele Adeyemo

Dele Adeyemo is an architect, creative director and critical urban theorist. Through his creative and research practices, Dele investigates the underlying forces driving the production of space, locating them in the racialising logic of everyday logistical processes that orchestrate patterns of life across the planet. Combining drawing, film, movement and installation, Dele’s work mobilises the spatial and architectural qualities of black aesthetic practices to rupture imaginaries of logistical power, and celebrate the liberatory spaces fashioned by black life in Africa and the global diaspora.

In 2019 as part of the Lagos Biennial, Dele presented the project Black Horizon, a short film and commissioned performances documenting the rhythms of endurance within the precariously situated community on the edge of Lagos Lagoon, Nigeria. In October 2020 his project, The Cosmogony of (Racial) Capitalism, was shown at the 5th Istanbul Design Biennial, and most recently in October 2021, Dele designed and exhibited the durational film installation, titled Making Black Horizons at Camden Art Centre, London.

He is currently a PhD candidate in the Centre for Research Architecture at Goldsmiths, University of London, in receipt of the Canadian Centre for Architecture and Andrew Mellon research grant and leads the Architecture Design Studio titled Black Horizons: worlding within the ruins of racial capitalism with Ibiye Camp and Dámaso Randulfe at the Royal College of Art in London.
