Cassandra is a research collective that investigates institutional practices and formal structures that emerge in the field of ecosystem governance. It explores how climate change is not only constructed through discourse and rhetoric, but produced through protocols of action, gestures, rituals and choreographies that corporate and state institutions routinely perform.
Cassandra was established by Chiara Di Leone, Laura Cugusi and Anastasiia Noga during the postgraduate programme “The Terraforming” at Strelka in 2020. Di Leone is a writer and researcher who holds an MA in Design from Goldsmiths University. Cugusi is an artist, writer and researcher. Noga is a writer and research associate at the Office for Applied Histories.
The collective has presented their research outcomes (a video essay and website) Building Climate Futures at the Tbilisi Architectural Biennial (2020), the Economia Festival during Dutch Design Week (2020), and as part of the Fictional Journal’s issue (2020). They published their essays in Kaleidoscope magazine (2020), and as part of Between the Material and the Possible publication (Steinberg Press, 2021). In August 2021, they also hosted a workshop on scenario writing and climate futures at Central Saint Martins.
