Our social and political lives, no matter what our geography, are governed, directly or indirectly, by the rules and protocols of neoliberal globalisation. Yet it is also true that this order – these terms and conditions that shape the world and our participation in it – is subject to negotiation. The ongoing pandemic has laid bare the fractured nature of socio-political life and the polarisation of political ideologies. What realities might emerge from refusing to turn away from these so-called terms and conditions, in order to see them in all their tangled dimensions and details?
By looking at the categorisation and legislation of nature, populist politics, struggle, resistance, and abolition, the speakers will discuss how conditions of living and political participation can be expanded or renegotiated, despite, or even because of, the very limitations they embody.
