In 1970 Alvin Toffler wrote a book predicting precisely the future of humanity – describing vividly the impact of rapid technological change at a global scale. In Future Shock, Su Hui-Yu reopens this prophecy, retelling the story through the context of Taiwan. The reconstruction combines old-school folk tales and supernatural mysteries as it moves through modern cityscapes, religious fields, scenic spots, and ruins around Taiwan to create psychedelic and glamorous scenes for the viewers.
A conversation with the filmmaker, Su Hui-Yu, takes place after the screening. This screening is a European premiere.
