In this talk, Silvio Lorusso will discuss the contradictory relationship between our expansive digital engagements and the increasingly confined physical spaces we inhabit. He will explore the trend towards minimalist living spaces, exemplified by the rise of studio apartments, and how this reflects a shift in our domestic environments. Lorusso will examine the implications of digital maximalism when it is linked to dwelling minimalism and discuss strategies to navigate the complexities of telepresence, remote work, and the evolving concept of 'home' in the digital age.
Following the lecture, Lorusso will be joined by Chris Lee in a dynamic conversation examining how algorithms reconfigure our sense of intimacy and distance, creating unexpected proximities while simultaneously erasing traditional qualities of closeness through their machine-driven logics.
