Anti-Colonial Tech through Resistance and Discomforts
IRL / presential

The participants attended transmediale but the panel did not take place.

Deeply implicated in military and carceral operations, the infrastructures of The Cloud regime reinforce historical racist structures and support new forms of colonisation through digitised oppression. This public conversation brings together a network of networks that has been organising collectively towards joyful, systemic techno-political change for many years. The common desire across this constellation explores modes of resisting the financialised, extractive modes of Big Tech, who profit heavily from online activities on the platforms they provide, turning all content into commodity.

During the event, participants will share modest proposals for moving networks and political engagement away from toxic cloud environments. From Counter Cloud Action to Digital Discomfort and trans*feminist servers, the techno-disobedient practices they share will unsettle computationally mediated depletion, activating paths towards anti-colonial tech.

The network of networks was initiated by Elodie Mugrefya (Constant) and Femke Snelting (Constant/TITiPI) in the framework of an online residency at transmediale, funded by Wallonie-Bruxelles International.
