Topology Of A Future City is a speculative working group divining, describing and thus constructing a future city (in ruins); an urban vector extrapolated from EM, signal (electromagnetic) and literary traces. Borrowing techniques from geophysical archaeology (revealing and mapping), narrative displacements (filmic manipulations of temporality), and coded psychogeographics, the workshop will sketche a novel model and working practice for the future city flaneur.
Topology will commence with a series of investigations, interventions, and broadcasts several days prior to the end of transmediale.10. The working group is composed of five core researchers and eight further participants selected from an open, public call. Researchers include Oswald Berthold, Verena Kuni and Danja Vasiliev with project-instigator Martin Howse. Research will be continued and presented by the core artists/researchers during the transmediale festival. Topology is situated within the context of a mobile research laboratory initiated by _____-micro-research in 2010.

Topology Of A Future City ist eine spekulative Arbeitsgruppe, die eine Stadt der Zukunft (in Ruinen) erspürt, beschreibt und schließlich konstruiert. Ein urbaner Vektor, extrapoliert durch EM, (elektromagnetische Signale) und literarische Spuren. Mit Techniken aus der geophysischen Archäologie (Offenlegen und Kartografieren), narrativen Deplacements (filmische Manipulationen von Zeitlichkeit) und kodierten Psychogeographien wird dieser Workshop dem Stadtflaneur der Zukunft neue Schablonen und Vorgehensweisen aufzeichnen.
Beginnen wird Typology mehrere Tage vor der transmediale.10 mit einer Reihe von Untersuchungen, Interventionen und Sendungen. Die Arbeitsgruppe setzt sich aus einem fünfköpfigen Forscherkern und acht weiteren Teilnehmern zusammen, die nach einer öffentlichen Ausschreibung ausgewählt werden. Zu den Forschern gehören Oswald Berthold, Verena Kuni und Danja Vasiliev sowie der Projektinitiator Martin Howse.
