[Withdrawn] Few Can See

2023, video, 42’

Main Still

In Few Can See Frank Sweeney examines the legacy of Irish and British broadcast censorship around the conflict in the north of Ireland and political movements during this era. Based on contemporary oral history interviews, the film attempts to recreate material absent from the Irish state archives due to censorship. Using a late 80s current affairs television format, actors in the film reenact edited transcripts from 18 oral history interviews, later dubbing their own performances. By filling in omissions and gaps, Few Can See attempts to reveal the politics of those made invisible or silent.
