transmediale is expanding across the city and will have its second venue at CANK in Neukölln, alongside silent green Kulturquartier. At CANK, visitors can explore the festival’s temporary architectures, activated through scheduled interventions, and an evening programme of events, while artists will transform the space with site-specific installations.
The festival venues will feature a series of temporary relational architectures conceived as conversational platforms, creating environments that spark dialogue. Shifting from a speaker–audience spatial format, the temporary architectures create spaces where visitors can become passengers, contributors, and co-navigators, paying attention to the embodied conditions in which other technological imaginaries can surface.
The Interspecifics sound art collective, whose research practice brings attention to the agency and intelligence of non-human entities, will present Sonic Grid ; a spatialised sound work, drawing on Jacobo Grinberg’s syntergic theory, inviting the audience to experience sound not as background but as a living environment.
Also premiering at transmediale 2026, Deera World is a comfort first, Swahili-tech, feminist forward, community sculpture project by Kathleen Bomani . Blurring hi-fi and low-fi, circuitry and craft, the work draws inspiration from the deera–a traditional, loose-fitting, flowing garment worn along the Swahili coast and across Eat Africa.
In line with our process-oriented programming, the 2026 festival line-up will continue to unfold in the lead up to the festival days–stay tuned!
