Cosmic Lotus

2026

Montika Kham-on, Cosmic Lotus, Techne·Shrine at transmediale 2026

A tribute to Nang Phom Hom (นางผมหอม / Lady Fragrant Hair); a lotus flower with nails crowning each petal, like a nail from her sacred hair. Praying hands emerge from ice-encased river branches, forming a cosmic lotus. Wood preserved in crystalline ice holds embedded light that pulses through frozen veins. The sculpture merges natural forms with technological ritual, a gesture of prayer becoming a gesture of connection. Each petal is tipped with delicate nails, relics transformed into offerings for our digital age.
