In Loaded Landscapes, the impacts of the long history of colonisation and land grabbing, often marked by violence, on people, lives, and media are revealed. Questioning how these histories and actions manifest themselves, under the ruse of progress, in the domain of real estate, Eimear Walshe and New Red Order ask how logic and language are distorted in the service of these histories. Engaging with the challenges of indigenous autonomy and land rights within the influence of colonial and capitalist systems, the films raise questions about whether our present political landscapes can ever meet these demands.

In Eimear Walshe’s LAND CRUISER, two lesbians on a road trip seeking privacy encounter the accumulating weight of Ireland’s colonial, capitalist, and covetous legacies and how they interrupt our most intimate thoughts, aspirations, and interactions. Between corporate commercials and branded content, New Red Order’s Give it Back: Crimes Against Reality capitalises on the desire for decoloniality and indigeneity, offering concrete steps to give land back.
