Tsonami Arte Sonoro

Tsonami Arte Sonoro is an organization based in Valparaíso, Chile, dedicated to the promotion and development of sound and listening practices.

Its work is articulated from an experimental and territorial perspective, understanding sound and listening as forms of exploration, creation, and knowledge in relation to the contexts in which they unfold. Within this framework, Tsonami brings together research, creation, education, and editorial production, generating spaces for disciplinary development, knowledge exchange, and connection with diverse communities and territories.

Its work is structured into four main areas:

Development of sound and listening practices: Through the organization of the Tsonami Festival, artistic residency programs, artist internationalization and circulation initiatives, and the management of the B.A.S.E. Tsonami space.

Education and training: Through initiatives such as the Latin American School of Sound Art, which develops methodologies for exploration and knowledge production through sound and listening in both in-person and virtual formats, as well as the Sound Art Diploma program initiated in 2018.

Editorial and discographic production: Through Tsonami Ediciones, which publishes books and Aural magazine, dedicated to exploring listening practices and their relationship with other disciplines of knowledge. The publishing house also features an online content platform that gathers texts by various authors. Meanwhile, Tsonami Records produces phonographic releases in various physical formats.

Radio and transmission: Through Radio Tsonami, which serves as a platform and infrastructure for experimenting with the radio format, approaching transmission as a subject of research and artistic creation.
