What is the shape of solidarity in times of extreme upheaval and dramatic change? What are the strategies, old and new, that can help us maintain and nourish community beyond the borders of imploding empires? How can we shift our modes of operating to accommodate new forms of political repression and surveillance, while still maintaining the commitments and refusals that shape our practices?
Returning to transmediale this year, members of The Kitchen Network are offering this workshop to build collective Networked Intimate Public (NIPs) practices of solidarity, coalition-building, and affinity. Workshopping methods examined in T.L. Cowan and Jas Rault’s new book Heavy Processing (punctum books, 2024), as well as the Feminist Data-Manifest-No, and other techno-cultural-artistic praxes, we will use a deck of cards designed to connect contemporary human rights struggles to devise a collaborative set of translocal commitments and refusals, designed by workshop participants, incorporating elements of Trans- Feminist Queer and Immigrant applied theoretical, visual, graphic collective arts.
The workshops takes place on 30 Jan, 10:00 – 18:00.
