[cancelled] Cheryl Scrolls her Tumblr

Hazel Meyer, Cait McKinney, HUSBANDRY, still

Due to family health reasons this workshop has been cancelled

A performance of a workshop
By Hazel Meyer, as Cheryl, with Cait McKinney.

Cheryl grew up in the 60's outside of Edmonton, Canada, on a small piece of land run by 2 lesbians, who were using their animal husbandry business to write off the debts accrued from their shared architectural practice.

Cheryl is a geriatric, bronze-breasted turkey, a lesbian and a puppet.

Cheryl takes you through the many emails she has received over the years from (the social media platform) Tumblr letting her know that her posts have been flagged and removed for violating community guidelines. Cheryl has always appealed these classification reviews. Sometimes her posts have been restored, other times not.

Cheryl will scroll her unrestored posts and provide lively commentary outlining the visual content, emotional shape, and scroll-flow of these posts. Cheryl remains emphatic about community guidelines not being violated on her account: @cheryl-on-the-farm-69.tumblr.com

This performance-workshop uses the access tool of ‘visual description’ to revive these deleted images and recast them as a necessary part of how we stay close (to desires, people, futures) when we aren’t near.

Working with a selection from Cheryl’s massive image collection we will work as a group to gently clarify the impossibility and uselessness of objectivity in such endeavors and lean into the how multi-directional image-description making can enliven that which is still and unsettle the limits of censorship.
