With the support of the European Union’s Creative Europe programme, the European Media Art Platform continues its residency program for artists, collectives or other artistic collaborations working in the fields of digital art, media art, and bio art. European artists, or collectives can apply with a project proposal for a residency of two months in 2024. The artists will be collaborating with an artist of their choice or an artist local to the host institution.
The residency includes an invitation to the kick-off conference and network meeting in Limassol in March 2024, a grant of €4,000 including subsistence costs, a grant of €2,000 for collaborating artist(s), production budget of €4,000, free accommodation, travel expenses up to €1,000, and free access to technical facilities and/or media labs of the host institution. It also includes a professional presentation and the possibility to participate in exhibition tours at EMAP members’ festivals or exhibitions in 2024, plus the possibility to get exhibited by EMAP partner institutions.
The European Media Art Platform (EMAP), initiated by werkleitz and co-funded by Creative Europe since 2018, is a consortium of 16 leading European media art organisations specialised in Digital and Media Art, Bio Art and Robotic Art. The consortium includes several renowned festivals dealing with these interdisciplinary art forms. In addition to the 16 permanent members of the consortium, an annually changing international residency host organisation is part of the EMAP board. Besides the two-month residency programme, EMAP focusses on sharing knowledge via workshops and connecting artists and institutions through a partner presentation grant.
