A white disk falls onto a black surface and shatters. After a few seconds, the surface, a black plate, falls onto a gray surface and also shatters. Dieter Kiessling explores with the greatest possible precision the conditions and mechanisms of image creation through technical media. His works make visible the difference between reality and its reproduction and thus also point to the conditions of human perception. Fallende Scheibe (Falling Disk) is Kiessling's contribution to Telepathic Music, Infermental 6, Vancouver, 1987. Initiated by Hungarian filmmaker Gábor Bódy in 1980, the video art magazine Infermental was published on videocassettes, and edited by rotating teams of editors from different countries until 1991.
