Conditions of Entry 2015
Vilém Flusser Residency Programme for Artistic Research 2015
Deadline: Sunday, 30 November 2014 (2400 CEST / UST+2)
This programme is oriented towards new and ongoing projects that will be carried out during the residency. In case of a new project we ask the applicant to elucidate the different steps through which the project is structured. In case of an ongoing project we ask the applicant to describe the next steps/phase of the project’s development and how that could be realized within the residency period. This requires a project related letter of intent by the applicant describing his/her motivation as well as a relevant documentation of previous works.
The evaluation by the jury requires excellent documentation of submitted works. Where appropriate, an explanation should be given as to which aspects of the works the program group should consider in particular. Preview video and audio material must be made available online, either within the artist's own site or embedded within a community channel. Supporting images and documents (PDF only) may be uploaded, to a maximum of 5 MB per submission. Additional supporting material may be sent by post only if essential for preview purposes, not in lieu of the online applications themselves. Accepted hardcopy media for preview are DVD, CDROM or print publications. If submitting additional material, please include a print-out of your online application confirmation. Mailing costs will be borne by the entrant. Supporting material will be returned on request only and are subject to the following conditions:
- Submissions from Germany must have a stamped and self-addressed envelope enclosed.
- Submissions from abroad must have a 20€ bill (cash only) enclosed.
There are no entry fees for either the call. Incomplete or late entries will not be considered. The selection for the residency will be made by a jury consisting of Teresa Dillon, Kristoffer Gansing and Daniel Irrgang. Please note: The residency programme is a 2 month work-and research-residency in Berlin between May and July 2015.
There will be no insurance cover for the material received. Should a work be damaged through the fault of transmediale only the material value will be reimbursed.
transmediale will only accept packages from abroad whose customs declaration forms have been completed correctly. Packages dispatched from outside the European Union must bear the following information: indication of the content plus the note “Not for trade – temporary loan for festival. Value = 0”.
Works submitted must be in English or German or have subtitles in either of these languages. Works in other languages must be accompanied by a text list or clear explanation in English or German.
In submitting the work or project, the applicant agrees to the incorporation of the material into the transmediale archive beyond the respective application year and the use of the material for festival and archival purposes. This includes the accessibility of all the material via the transmediale website for search, view, retrieval and display and the temporary download in order to be able to carry out the uses permitted. All rights to the artwork and images will remain with the artist.
transmediale is a project of the Kulturprojekte Berlin GmbH, in cooperation with the House of World Cultures and funded by the German Federal Cultural Foundation.
