Das transmediale Festival 2012 nimmt Gestalt und während wir das Programm entwickeln, möchten wir euch über aktuelle transmediale bezogene Veranstaltungen informieren. Anfang November werden wir euch einige Details zum anstehenden Festival: in/compatible, mitteilen.

 

 

// ARAB SHORTS FESTIVAL

Das Goethe-Institut in Kairo richtet in diesem Jahr zum dritten Mal das Arab Shorts Festival in der Zeit vom 27. bis 31. Oktober 2011 aus. Elf Kuratoren aus der arabischen Welt präsentieren insgesamt acht Programme mit Kurzfilmen aller Gattungen. Künstlerischer Leiter des Festivals ist der Film- und Videokurator der transmediale 2012, Marcel Schwierin. Die Kuratoren für die diesjährige Ausgabe des Arab Shorts sind: Massoud Amralla Al Ali (Dubai), Nadira Ardjoun (Clermont-Ferrand), Habiba Djahnine (Algeria, France), Hala Galal and Ayman Hussein (Egypt), Lara Khaldi (Palestine) und Yazan Khalili (Palestine), Maha Maamoun und Sarah Rifky (Egypt), Walid Tayaa (Tunisia), und Ala Younis (Jordan).

Auf der transmediale 2012 wird wie schon 2010 und 2011 ein Programm des Arab Shorts Festivals durch einen der Kuratoren präsentiert werden. // IN/COMPATIBLE RESEARCH CONFERENCE

Vom 16. bis zum 18. November 2011 wird die in/compatible research Konferenz die erste Veranstaltung im Rahmen des neuen transmediale Projektes reSource for transmedial culture markieren. Die Konferenz ist in Kooperation mit dem Digital Aesthetics Research Centre (DARC) / Centre for Digital Urban Living der Aarhus Universität in Dänemark und dem Vilém Flusser Archive der UdK Berlin organisiert. Als Teilnehmer wurden 17 PhD-Studenten aus dem in/compatible research call ausgewählt, sowie Researcher und Dozenten wie Cornelia Sollfrank, Tiziana Terranova und Siegfried Zielinksi eingeladen. In täglichen Workshops (deren Teilnahme ausschließlich den PhD-Studenten vorbehalten ist) behandeln die Teilnehmer das Thema in/compatible anhand von drei Unterthemen: interfaces, methods und markets. Die im Anschluss geplanten Diskussionen und Panels, die eine Vielfalt an Forschungstraditionen und Disziplinen aus Theorie und Praxis reflektieren sollen, werden für Publikum geöffnet sein. Am Freitag, den 18. November wird das Event schließlich in einer allgemeinen Diskussionsrunde aller Teilnehmer der Workshops und Konferenzen ihr Ende finden, die eine gemeinsame Reflektion über praxis-basierte Recherche im Kontext der reSource for transmedial culture und eine Zusammenfassung der Erkenntnisse der letzten Tage ermöglichen soll.

// FREE CULTURE INCUBATOR # 11

Der Free Culture Incubator No 11 wird im November das Thema "Rechenexempel – Der Wert und Preis freiberuflicher Arbeit" behandeln und am Samstag, den 19. November 2011, von 19 bis 21.30 Uhr stattfinden. Bei einem Round Table im Rahmen der Gründerwoche laden wir zu einem Erfahrungsaustausch mit Praktikern aus verschiedensten kulturellen und kreativen Berufen ein. Jeder der angemeldeten Teilnehmer wird gebeten, ein Statement für die Diskussion vorzubereiten und einen kurzen Online-Fragebogen auszufüllen. Die Ergebnisse hieraus dienen als Leitfaden durch den Abend und werden von beispielhaften Erfahrungsberichten und Rechenexempeln als Diskussionsstoff und Inspirationsquelle zum Thema ergänzt.

The transmediale festival 2012 takes shape and while our programme is intensively processing, we would like to inform you about current transmediale related events in a brief update. By the beginning of November we will be able to inform you about some details of next year's festival: in/compatible.

 

 

// ARAB SHORTS FESTIVAL

Goethe-Institut Kairo will host the Arab Shorts festival for the third time during the time from October 27–31, 2011 in Cairo. This year will see the presentation of eight film programmes of all genres, selected by eleven curators (duos resp.) from around the Arab world. Artistic director of the festival is Marcel Schwierin, who is also the film & video curator of the transmediale. // IN/COMPATIBLE RESEARCH CONFERENCE

The first event organised within the new transmediale project reSource for transmedial culture will take place on November 16–18, 2011. The in/compatible research conference is carried out in collaboration with the Vilém Flusser Archive of UdK Berlin, where it will take place, and with the support of the Digital Aesthetics Research Centre (DARC) / Centre for Digital Urban Living of Aarhus University. For three days 17 PhD students selected from our in/compatible research open call will meet with researchers and lecturers, among them Cornelia Sollfrank, Tiziana Terranova and Siegfried Zielinski, in order to address the in/compatible theme of transmediale through three subtopics: interfaces, methods and markets. Daily workshops (restricted to PhD students) will be accompanied by panels and discussions in the evening that are open to the public, and in which a diversity of research approaches and disciplines shall be reflected. On Friday, November 18, the event will end with a plenary session for the participants who followed the conference, generating a meta-reflection on practice-based research, in the context of the reSource for transmedial culture.

// FREE CULTURE INCUBATOR # 11

The Free Culture Incubator No 11 deals with the issue: Bottom Line – The Price and Value of Freelance Work. It will take place on Saturday, November 19, 2011, from 7 till 9.30 pm – this time in form of a round table as part of the German Entrepreneurship Week. We invite
practitioners from all kinds of art, culture and creative businesses for an exchange of experiences, individual findings and strategies. Each participant is requested to prepare a statement for the round table discussion, and is furthermore asked to fill in a short online survey. The results will guide us through the evening and will be supplemented by personal reports and exemplary calculations.
